This glossary of postal symbols gives a brief description and explanation of postal markings, labels and seals whish are found on letters, postal items and packages.

Choose the first letter:



R (LABEL) - a white label marked with ‘R’ (from French work recommande - recommended) designates registered mail
which is recorded upon submission; it is given a receipt number and the receiving post office is noted.

REMBOURSEMENT/COD (LABEL) - an orange label in the shape of triangle in which the term “Rem-boursement”
designates a trade charge item.

REGISTERED MAIL - a mail item for which the sender is issued an acknowledgement of receipt and the receiver
must sign upon delivery; in case of loss, damage or reduced content the prescribed compensation is paid.

REGISTERED PLUS - a label must be located in the upper left corner or marking ‘R’ (RECOMMANDE), with the name
of the post office which accepted the item and a label or blue print reading ‘PRIORITETNO/ZRAKOPLOVOM - PRIOR-ITAIRE/PAR AVION’
and an acceptance number.
